Makkolli is a traditional alcoholic drink made in Korea from rice and nuruk, a fermentation starter. It is often brewed as a "quick" or "emergency brew," which may be ready in 7–10 days and is fermented in one stage. Each family would traditionally make their own rice wine, which was consumed both frequently and on major occasions like weddings.
